My friends and I were breaking bread on friday evening and discussing history---Becker's book on the 18th century philosophers' heavenly city----Dante and Carlito were locked into another semantic debate possessed by the quest for clearcut definition. Carlito had a habit of blurting out whole buckets of ideas kind of like taking wet paint and slapping it onto the wall and floor---and as is wont with such passionate speakers he often overstepped the point under discussion---On the other hand, in Dante one discovers a true hairsplitting inquisitor---my role is to translate the one to the other (on good occasions), or to stand clear when they locked in mortal etymological battle---
Amongst glasses of lambrusco and fine food discussions concerning the psychology of Wm. James, the archetypal psychology of Carl Jung, the Bible, or Dostoevsky proceed into labyrinthine debates concerning time and space, the problem of evil, the origin of personhood, etc. proliferate ad infinitum! But each one is staking their own angle or perspective into account---and amongst this amicable colloquy consensus or agreement is often reached. But what of those who do not practice philosophical dialogue at all? Surely to the layman, or average Joe we must seem somewhat odd if not mad in fact.
It then dawned upon me then that I must be looking at things from another angle---- a completely different angle! For me, the prophetic works of the Bible and other prophecies are to be taken as "required reading"---the basis of where my perspective begins. Notice how strange the views of such an eschatological thinker must seem to someone who does not consider world events, and news in this interpretive heuristic.
I started up Apocalypse Illustrated some years ago in order to express my eschatological vision, that is, my perspective of world events as the unfolding of prophetic revelation. Here in Apocalypse Illustrated you may find many links chronologically laid out of events that in my mind at least seem to evidence (in some cases beyond the shadow of a doubt, in others not) the unveiling at the end of the age (to aschaton).
For example: If we take the historic (what the &^* does 'historical' mean anymore?) at any rate if we take the meeting between President Donald J. Trump and President Vladimir Putin as an example---the mainstream news media accounts (Foxnews, NPR, CNN, etc...) do not discuss the prophetic significance of these historic events, they proceed from a thoroughly 'secularized' point of view, one that does not see the Hand of God at work in human affairs on a day to day basis. The eschatological point of view which is evidenced in this blog suggests that there is a hidden game being played and that it is visible as a 'sign' to whom it is given to understand while to others this seems like nonsense, perhaps even dangerous nonsense!
Please enjoy your visits to Apocalypse Illustrated! We most certainly are blessed to live in these times wherein the evil empire may finally be ostensibly overthrown by the True King who conquered Satan and death shedding his blood on the cross for the sake of redemption and salvation of every soul that came into the world.
